Mom, Dad, Benny:

Today was a good day.  I am feeling much better.  I even had some tingling in my feet.  I should be walking in no time they say.  Part of me, though, would be quite content for my injury to take its sweet time.  It could mean a trip home to recover.

Arthur has been with me all the time.  I owe my life to him, but right now he owes me a couple of bucks – he really is a bad cribbage player.  I so much want you to meet him when this is all over.  Benny, you will like Arthur.  It will be like having two big brothers.

I wrote to George’s family today.  It was the hardest thing I have done so far in this war.  Arthur and I promised that we would visit on return.  I’ve always wanted to go to Toronto.

Well, the nurse is trying her hardest to shoo Arthur away.  They want me to rest.  I’ll write again tomorrow.

Love

Alex
